WorkOne Southwest – Job Seekers Receive Assistance

A variety of funding streams including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) support WorkOne Southwest services and programs. Designed to help serve individuals with barriers to employment, these workforce services include resume development, interview coaching, job search assistance, career planning, and skills evaluations. To continue serving individuals, virtual workshops have been developed to assist individuals with resume development and interview coaching. Between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020, 1,404 clients have received employment utilizing services.

Through the use of assessment tools and remediation tools, Employment Specialists are available to assist job seekers to overcome barriers and develop a comprehensive career plan for sustainable living wages.  WorkOne Southwest partners with training providers to upskill individuals if part of the career plan. There are currently 747 open positions in the Southwest Indiana region within representing a variety of occupations including, but not limited to, administrative assistant, merchandiser, manufacturing engineer, digital banking specialist, production supervisor, patient care technician and truck driver.

Special programs are available to assist in-school and out-of-school Youth with mentoring, work experience, high school equivalency obtainment, and on-the-job training. Veterans with significant barriers to employment such as disability, homelessness, or incarceration are eligible for intensive services provided by the local Veteran Representatives.
