Each spring semester, the University of Southern Indiana College of Liberal Arts, Communications Department and the Scripps Howard Center for Media Studies present a symposium on the impact of social media on communications.
The 2020 symposium will be held Thursday, February 27 in Carter Hall, located in the University Center on USI’s campus. This year we welcome Mary Wilkinson, president of Opus Design Group, to campus for a presentation.
Wilkinson is president of Opus Design Group, a marketing, advertising and communications firm located in the Indianapolis area. Wilkinson began her career in a traditional advertising agency setting, serving in positions such as art director, creative director and vice president of creative before starting her own firm.
During her professional development, she obtained additional education in marketing in order to better evaluate her clients’ needs. As digital media came to the forefront, Wilkinson implemented social media programs for her clients who were non-traditional users of the media.
Currently, her primary roles are as director of marketing for three organizations: the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy, the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy, and the Science of Running Medicine. Part of her responsibilities focuses on the implementation of social media in service of the associations, especially for the post-millennial, millennial and Gen-X demographics.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Mary Beth Reese, instructor in communications, at email@example.com.
