Susan Parsons is this year’s local ATHENA Award Representative. Susan Parsons is the Chief Financial officer and Board member for Koch Enterprises. Susan takes time to help develop Koch’s subsidiary CFOs (most of whom are women). And she looks for opportunities for women to grow through different and challenging work assignments, even changing companies within the Koch organization. Susan’s role at Koch Enterprises is demanding on her time, yet she is still highly involved in the community. She currently serves as Treasure for Evansville YMCA, and board service includes, United Way of Southwestern Indiana, Easterseals, Volunteer Action Center, and Youth resources of Southwest Indiana, just to name a few.
The announcement came Friday, February 22 at the Southwest Indiana Chamber’s annual ATHENA Award Luncheon, held at Old National Events Plaza.
Parsons was among 6 Athenas for this year’s award which recognizes female leaders. Other finalists this year were: Gina Gibson – Executive Director at Evansville Christian Life Center; Mary Kessler – Dean of Education and Health Sciences at University of Evansville; Deena Laska Lewis – Founder and Choreographer at Children’s Center for Dance Education; Millie Marshall – President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana; Carrie Roelle – Partner at Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn, LLP.
The ATHENA Award is part of ATHENA International, a Chicago-based nonprofit established in 1982 to support, develop and honor female leaders. The Southwestern Indiana Chamber has participated in the program since 1990.
