HealthSouth Deaconess CEO to Retire

Barbara Butler, CEO of HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital, will retire from her position November 2014. Barb began her career as a Respiratory Therapist for Deaconess Hospital. She also worked at Welborn Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center. In 1989, she established her career at HealthSouth Deaconess, holding the position Director of Pulmonary Programs.Barb Butler, HealthSouth Deaconess CEO and 2012 ATHENA Award recipient

With her dynamic personality and drive for success, she quickly moved up the corporate ladder to Director of Marketing Operations, then to Regional Director of Marketing Operations, finally to her current position as CEO at HealthSouth Deaconess Rehab Hospital. During her tenure, HealthSouth Deaconess has been awarded Top 10 Hospital in the country within the HealthSouth Corporation four times.

In addition to her professional achievements, Barb is an active member of the Evansville community. She is a member of the Indiana Hospital Association, Chamber of Commerce, and numerous other community and professional organizations.

To enumerate, Barb was awarded the 2012 ATHENA Award. This award celebrated her passion for helping other professional women to reach their full potential.

Although Barb will be retiring from her position as CEO of HealthSouth Deaconess, she will remain on a consulting basis with HealthSouth Corp. using her extensive experience to assist opening new hospitals across the country.
