Gibbs honored by National Association of Manufacturers for Operational Excellence Leadership
Gibbs Die Casting Corp. proudly announces it won the Operational Excellence Leadership Award from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Manufacturing Leadership Council.
A new Gibbs machining plant, which opened in 2017, won the Operation Excellence Leadership Award. The Gibbs machining plant is equipped with 16 new Fuji lathes and performs leak testing, assembly, laser etching, washing, automated installation, and vision checks.
The NAM Manufacturing Leadership Council recognized Gibbs for Operational Excellence Leadership based on the planning and implementation demonstrated in the new machining plant. Gibbs designed the new plant using lean tools to develop a low cost manufacturing model to increase competitiveness in the automotive market and increase manufacturing space for growth. The result of employing the lean philosophies enabled Gibbs to reduce costs, decrease lead times, improve productivity, and reduce scrap.
“I’m proud of all of our Gibbs Team Members who were involved in this project. This award is just another example of Gibbs’ commitment to lead our industry in best practices and innovation,” says Steve Church, President and CEO.
Gibbs will be recognized at the 15th Annual Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala, which is to be held on the last day of the NAM Manufacturing Leadership Summit, June 10-12, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa in Huntington Beach, CA.
