Field & Main is proud to be the presenting sponsor of WNIN’s Summer of Music. With the cancellation of the W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival, ROMP Fest, and the New Harmony Music Festival WNIN decided to provide coverage of each festival using archival performance material and current interviews with selected artists.
The W.C. Handy Festival show features highlights from last year’s festival, including interviews plus tracks of artists. There will also be interviews with artists scheduled to perform at this year’s festival and a glimpse into what next year’s W.C. Handy Fest will hold. Festival guru Dorin Luck will talk about how they decided to cancel this year’s event and the outlook for future events.
The show featuring the ROMP Fest will include highlights and interviews from last year, plus recordings of artists who were going to be at the fest this year. Chris Joslin, the Director of the Bluegrass Hall of Fame and Museum will discuss how this year they are taking the time to reinvent audience engagement with the hopes of making it stronger for the coming years.
The New Harmony Music Festival show will feature selections from the festival’s entire audio archive. It will also include interviews with festival organizers and past performers.
The air dates and times for these events are the following:
W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival: Friday, June 19th from 9PM to 11 PM
ROMP Fest: Friday, June 26th from 9PM to 11PM
New Harmony Music Festival: Friday, July 10th from 9PM to 10PM
WNIN has provided live, special coverage of these local music festivals for over five years and Field & Main is proud to partner with them to bring audiences this special coverage in light of the cancellation of the events.
