Educational and educator resources available from EVPL

To support students and educators, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library has added several new resources to supplement existing resources, available through digital and in-person experiences.

“EVPL is dedicated to supporting local students and educators,” EVPL CEO-Director Scott Kinney said. “During these times, we have a number of digital and in-person services to ensure a successful school year.”

Students can receive homework help, essay review, and one-on-one tutoring with EVPL’s subscription to Tutor.com. There are several practice tests for the SAT, ACT, GRE, Citizenship Test, HSE, and more.

Students can also borrow educational eBooks and digital resources by utilizing TumbleBooksLibrary, TumbleMath, and TeenBookCloud.

TumbleBooks has over 1,100 titles for kindergarten through sixth grade and includes animated, talking picture books, read-along chapter books, National Geographic videos, nonfiction books, and books in Spanish and French.

TeenBookCloud is a curated database for seventh grade through high school, with more than 1,000 titles including graphic novels, enhanced eBooks, classic literature and more.

TumbleMath, for kindergarten through sixth grade, has the most comprehensive collection of math stories available in the TumbleBook format, which combines animation, narration, and sound. Each book is accompanied by supplementary materials such as lesson plans, educational games, and quizzes.
Educators can access lesson plans, activities, and guides through several EVPL resources.

LearningExpress Library, presented by the Indiana State Library, has a variety of tests, tutorials, and eBooks for students of all ages. There are also resources available for Spanish speakers.

The Indiana eLearning Lab is built for homeschooling families. Educators can find personalized lesson plans, resources, and weekly eLearning webinars through the eLearning Lab.

A recent digital resource added to the EVPL collection is Kanopy, an on-demand streaming video platform that offers films and documentaries. All Kanopy content is licensed for viewing in classrooms and for educational purposes.

In addition to several digital resources, EVPL Central has an extensive and recently revamped Educational Materials collection, available to check out with an EVPL card.
