Gibson County sits just north of Evansville and is home to Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, Inc., one of the largest employers in Southwest Indiana with nearly 5,000 full-time employees. Gibson County is the largest coal-producing county in Indiana.
The City of Princeton, the county seat, is the largest community in Gibson County and was named a Stellar Community in 2012 by the Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs Stellar Communities program. Because of the Stellar Communities program, more than $20 million will be invested in revitalizing downtown Princeton.
Other communities in Gibson County include Oakland City (about 36 miles from Evansville) and the Towns of Fort Branch (about 22 miles from Evansville), Haubstadt (about 18 miles from Evansville) and Owensville (about 29 miles from Evansville).
