In Greater Evansville, everyone counts
Often I am asked, “What does the Chamber do?” In a word, the Southwest Indiana Chamber drives initiatives and opportunities that set us up for success, for a more prosperous and equitable future. The Chamber is a community of individuals, businesses, leaders and influencers who share a common interest in the pursuit of progress, of regional strength, and most importantly, of a region where people want to live, and all can thrive. By working together as a community, we can compete in the race for talent and economic prosperity. Our region depends on a strong, capable and strategic chamber to work alongside our private and public partners to build on the many strengths of our community.
Greater Evansville is doing well by most counts. We are a manufacturing powerhouse, home to a thriving health care community, the retail center for the Tri-State, and our cost of living is great! But we do have some challenges. Our region has not grown materially in the past decade. Our GRP is growing, but not keeping up with our peers. While we are beginning to change – thanks to the many exciting initiatives that we’ve completed in the past few years – it is going to take our entire region working together to make this a prosperous home for all.
Our partners and members see a talented workforce as the key issue impacting our region. It’s our top priority. Every year America grows more diverse. In today’s competitive jobs arena, workplace diversity and equity are a serious competitive advantage. We know that diverse companies outperform their competitors, they have higher employee engagement and are the workplaces of choice. The same is true for our region. We are more attractive and successful in becoming a talent “location of choice” as we build a more equitable, diverse and inclusive civic community. In Greater Evansville, everyone counts.
The Southwest Indiana Chamber is proud to support the growth and success of diverse and inclusive business and civic communities. Our partnerships with the Latino Chamber Alliance and with Latino Business Associations around Indiana allow the opportunity for Latino-owned and led businesses to thrive within our region. It also provides the broader business community the opportunity to build productive partnerships and open more doors for diverse business expansion throughout the Greater Evansville Region. On March 6, the Latino Chamber Alliance hosts its Annual Dinner. It is live music, dancing, dinner and an opportunity for our community to put the “Great” in Greater Evansville. More details are inside this newsletter.
In a word, our members and stakeholders are working together; and together we are a strong, reliable and credible partner in business and community impact. If you are looking for a way to be a part of something big, to make a difference in both your bottom line and your community, that’s when you say “I’m in.” Join with us in building a really “Great”
