A Time of Transitions
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phillip Schiller, once said: “There’s a little bit of pain in every transition, but we can’t let that stop us from making it. If we did, we’d never make any progress at all.” With Christy Gillenwater being named as the next President and CEO of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, transition is right where we find ourselves at the Southwest Indiana Chamber. We will miss the great work that Christy contributed to the Chamber and our community overall, but we wish her well and are confident she will find great success in her new role. Although we are in transition, you should know that the outstanding team Christy has assembled stands ready to continue the Chamber’s collaborative efforts toward progress on behalf of business in Southwest Indiana.
As the Chamber’s Board of Directors conducts a search for a permanent successor for Christy, our staff will continue to focus on our 2018 strategic priorities, which begin and end with support and engagement for our outstanding Chamber member partners and volunteers. We are dedicated to making 2018 a year that focuses on our members’ needs, providing them with outstanding value and opportunities to get involved on issues impacting them and their businesses both directly and indirectly.
Your Chamber team, in collaboration with Chamber Alliances and community partners, will continue working hard to facilitate downtown development, to address the growing workforce development needs of so many businesses in Southwest Indiana, advance public policy efforts centered around our 2018 legislative agenda (previewed in this newsletter), and celebrate all that is good and diverse in Evansville and Southwest Indiana through continued support of the “e is for everyone” initiative.
Thanks to outstanding leadership from local government officials, numerous local business leaders and numerous community focused organizations – combined with the collective hard work of our Chamber members and volunteers – the Southwest Indiana region is on the cusp of unprecedented growth and development. As our region embarks on its own transition, the collaborative approach advocated by Christy and so many others in our community in recent years will be vital to our success. At the Chamber, we look forward to embracing our transition and the region’s transition, knowing that “together we thrive!”
