The Southwest Indiana Chamber Diverse Business Alliance is designed to enhance minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses and to help industries meet their diverse spend goals.
Several businesses, industries, and organizations partnered with the Chamber to create the Diverse Business Alliance. They recognize that a highly diversified supplier network more accurately reflects the demographics of their customer base.
The initiative works on two fronts, the supply side and the demand side. It encourages the growth of businesses owned by disadvantaged groups (DBE), minorities (MBE), women (WBE) and U.S. Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) as defined by the Small Business Association, and it encourages businesses and industries to incorporate diverse spend goals within their procurement practices.
This initiative will foster awareness of the benefits of purchasing from diverse businesses and will provide educational opportunities to help MBEs, WBEs and VOSBs grow and improve. Future plans include networking events to link suppliers with procurement professionals.
