3 Chicks Fudgery: Posey County Alliance Chamber Member of the Month February 2018

Meet Rachel Rainey, owner of 3 Chicks Fudgery, as she reveals what is at the heart of her business, what makes it unique and future offerings.

Who started the business and why?
I started 3 Chicks Fudgery because I had a product people seemed to love and opening my store gave me a way to sell and share my product with customers and the flexibility to be with my family.

What are the services you provide?
3 Chicks Fudgery offers a variety of unique flavors of fudge, custom wedding and party favors, fudge party trays. We also sell gourmet coffee beans and plan to sell coffee by the cup when we open our new location. 3 Chicks Fudgery also offers fundraisers. We also ship all over and do online sales.

What is your favorite thing about the business?
I love talking to people every day and helping people give gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and more. I love when someone buys a gift and that person they bought the gift for then comes in the store and tells me how much they enjoyed it and they want to share fudge with someone else. It may seem like such a small thing but that little bit of joy I get to be a part of is so much fun for me.

How does your business differentiate itself from the competition?
I feel like the fudge that we offer really stands out from other places that offer fudge. I make the fudge in smaller batches so it is always fresh. Also I am the owner and the one in the store on a daily basis and the one making the fudge so the quality is always my responsibility. I also think there are plenty of other sweet shops in the Southwest Indiana area, but I am one of very few that actually makes my own fudge. It’s very hard to find.

What do most members of the community not know about your business?
I think a lot of people still don’t know that I offer online shipping. And I am surprised at how many people still don’t realize I have a retail location! I travel to a lot of farmers markets and other craft shows and vendor fairs so people are still finding our retail location.

Anything else you would like included about your business?
I’d love to make a note that we are moving from our current location to 305 Main Street.
